Friday Plan

We're off to the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica this morning. Getting a late start because the museum doesn't open until 10 - so got to sleep in a little!

This afternoon, we'll be going to the Basilica of St. John Lateran, where our dear priests will get to celebrate Mass -- with the feast of St. John Lateran coming this Sunday! What great timing! Then those of us with good knees will go up the Scala Santa (Holy Steps) on our knees.

The Scala Santa is a set of 28 white marble steps located within a building across the street from the Lateran Basilica. These are the original steps leading up to the praetorium of Pontius Pilate in Jerusalem on which Jesus Christ stepped on his way to trial during His Passion! St. Helena had them brought back to Rome in the 4th century. This will be quite an experience for all of us!

Here's a photo of what we'll be doing later this afternoon:

Well -- that's some of our itinerary for today -- more later! Keep us in your prayers! Grazie!
